Almost every aspect of the printing process is evaluated in a dot positioning test. For example, you can determine if your drops are traveling fast enough for your application by comparing the actual positions of the dots with their intended ones – slow drops are subject to being blown off course. You can also learn if the satellites you see with the dropwatcher actually have an impact on the print by comparing the number of dots with the intended number – extra dots means the satellites are showing up.
